In <strong>France<\/strong>, a similar reduced rate has been applied for <strong>more than two years<\/strong>. In the <strong>United Kingdom<\/strong>, a <strong>5% rate<\/strong> was implemented back in <strong>2001<\/strong>. In <strong>August 2017<\/strong>, British multinational retailer <em><strong>Tesco <\/strong><\/em>even started <strong>covering the remaining share of VAT<\/strong> on over a hundred different feminine hygiene products.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the <strong>LMDE<\/strong>, a French student insurance company, the <strong>lifetime cost of menstruating ranges from 1500 to 2000 euros<\/strong>. In the UK, it is estimated that <strong>one in ten woman cannot afford sanitary products<\/strong>. It goes without saying that <strong>it will take much more than simply reducing or scrapping VAT on menstrual products to fight period poverty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":2253,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_crsspst_to_hw54cbngfnpreviewinfomaniakwebsite":false,"_crsspst_to_ess-europeeu":false,"_crsspst_to_transition-europeeu":false},"internal_contacts":[],"countries":[],"thematics":[85,87,83],"class_list":["post-2252","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","thematics-discrimination","thematics-genre","thematics-rsediversit"],"acf":{"content_resume":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Last month, the Chamber of Representatives unanimously passed a bill putting an end to the so-called \"tampon tax\".
