ENoMW’s Position Paper on Gender-Based Violence against Refugee & Migrant Women

“According to UNHCR, in the summer of 2015, Europe experienced the highest number of refugees since the Second World War. An increasing number of them are women fleeing war-torn regions. They are young and unaccompanied girls, mothers, pregnant women, older women, women with disabilities and others, who have made a desperate attempt to seek secure shelter in Europe. “

The European Network of Migrant Women, in the views of the forthcoming Valletta summit of November 11-12th (bringing together EU and African leaders) is asking the EU leader to put in place effective, gender appropriate measures, schemes and funding –  in line with the international and European instruments –  to protect the rights, safety and dignity of women fleeing conflict.
